Trovato l’accordo con Petrini, resta centrale la questione OGM ed anche il Cardinale Scola ne parla mantenendo il proverbiale equilibrio della Chiesa che detesta essere tirata per la giacchetta: non banale il passaggio in cui si stigmatizza l’idolatria verso l’ambiente.

Dear Friends of Golden Rice,
We are writing to a limited group of people that we know support Golden Rice, or would be interested in this new campaign. As many of you know, the World Health Organization estimates that up to 500,000 children go blind each year from vitamin A deficiency, half of whom die within a year. Golden Rice is the cure yet Greenpeace and its allies are working to prevent it from being adopted, 13 years after it was invented.
We are about to launch the AllowGoldenRiceNow! Campaign. The website www.allowgoldenricenow.org is now public so you can preview the information that will go out to thousands of journalists, politicians, and interested individuals.
Here is a link to the flyer we intend to hand out at our demonstrations. Please give us your feedback so we can correct/edit the website and other documents before it goes public.
The campaign will demand that Greenpeace make an exemption for Golden Rice, on humanitarian grounds, from its zero-tolerance policy on GM crops. We are not asking them to drop their (misguided) position on GM, only to make an exception.
With my brother Michael and other members of our family we have incorporated the non-profit Allow Golden Rice Society in British Columbia and this will be the organization’s only objective. We will conduct direct actions to gain media attention. We will target Greenpeace and its allies. We will focus public pressure on Greenpeace to reverse its opposition to Golden Rice. We hope that the grass roots members of the science, agriculture, health, and humanitarian communities will support us.
The campaign launch will be at an Information Session at Pauper’s Pub in Toronto at 7 PM October 1. At 10 AM the next morning we will hold a demonstration in front of the Greenpeace Toronto office. We will have a large banner that brings attention to the fact that eight million children have died unnecessarily since Golden Rice was invented in 1999 and that Greenpeace is leading the campaign against Golden Rice. The campaign will continue to target other Greenpeace offices and the visits of Greenpeace ships around the world.

We aim to raise enough funds to support travel, media communications, newspaper placements etc. We will go to the big Greenpeace offices in Europe: Amsterdam, London, and Hamburg. This will also be a public education campaign. I will bring to bear my 15 years with Greenpeace and 25 years as an independent ecology activist to take this issue up several more notches in public awareness. Greenpeace has done some very good things, but this is a terrible mistake on their part and must be corrected. Please help us to reverse their position on Golden Rice.
Please get involved. We will copy you with all media releases and other information as the campaign begins and develops. When you see the effectiveness of our campaign I hope you will contribute to it so we have the resources to take it to the heart of Greenpeace’s base in Europe.

Ci aspettiamo la prossima battaglia di Repubblica perché si promuova il gioco del golf nelle scuole e si faccia scuola guida sulle Ferrari testarossa che sono notoriamente prodotte a chilometro zero.
